My Bio

Angelo Marotta was born in Reggio Calabria (Italy) on May 3rd 1967. In 1989 he starts his career as an assistant cameraman and than cameraman at MedMedia Produzioni Televisive, a co-operative production society based in Reggio Calabria, working for different types of TV programmes, news, advertising and reportage for regional, national and international broadcasters. Between 1989 and 1995, as cameraman, he works for ArchiMed, Med-Media visual anthropology Archive filming topics as traditional music, feasts, material culture, identity and place.
In 1995 he moves to Rome where he starts working on Natural History documentaries and with Paneikon, a leading production company in Italy, works at the realization of many national and international co-productions.
Since 2002 his field of interest and activity has widen up to include social and anthropological documentaries for which he starts collaborating with other Italian and international production companies.
Thanks to his background and to the multifaceted experience gained through the years he nowadays chooses to work with different roles in the production of different documentaries: author, director of photography, camera operator, soundman, assistant cameraman.
